Because bed bugs love to hide, most people don’t know they have a problem until after they’ve been bitten. We see bed bugs mostly in mental health facilities, health care facilities, hotels, and apartment complexes; mostly places that have transient populations. Bed bugs are hitchhikers, so they jump onto people's clothing or belongings and have to potential to infest wherever their next stop may be. Over the years we have tried a number of treatments to remove bed bugs. In our experience, chemical applications by them-self generally do not work to totally eradicate infestations.

The best way to kill off a bed bug infestation is through a combination of heat and leave behind chemicals. Typically, a sniffer dog is used to locate areas where the bedbugs may be hiding. Once the bugs are located the rooms are stripped of all linens, clothing, or beds and bedding that have crevasses that they can hide. All of these items that can fit in a large commercial dryer are then blasted to kill off any potentially hiding critters. Once the room is clear a heater is placed in the room for an extended period of time. Bedbugs hate heat and over a prolonged period of time at temperatures between 117F and 124F, they begin to die off completely. Trace chemicals are left behind for any remaining bugs to help fully eradicate an infestation. Once the application is complete, rooms are terminally cleaned to remove any dead bugs. It is important not to disturb any of the left behind chemicals just in case there is a stray bug, but this isn't very likely. In the past when other processes were not used the bugs have come back.
