If you've seen the TV show HOARDERS on A&E with Matt Paxton you already know how significant a challenge some families face due to compulsive hoarding. Hoarding is so much more than excessively saving clothes, food and junk because you can't seem to part with it. It's a hidden epidemic that results not only in extreme clutter but filthy living conditions. Hoarding usually starts with a traumatic event and continues until the disorder is uncovered by loved ones who want to help. The process of cleaning and healing a hoarding situation is complex due to the psychological nature of the disorder and must be met with compassion and concern void of any judgement.
