CHECKLIST OF DEEP CLEANING TASKS WHEN BUYING OR SELLING A HOME

Download Printable Deep Cleaning Checklist

Use this checklist above to hold yourself accountable to all the areas of the house! Or contact your local cleaners to make sure these areas are included if you’re booking a “professional deep clean.”

Deep Cleaning a whole house can be time-consuming, but very rewarding in the end. If you’re selling a home, the cleanliness of the home will make it far more appealing to future buyers. And if you’ve just purchased a home, a detailed cleaning is in order (unless the sellers already provided this service).

BATHROOM

The bathroom can be a tricky area to deep clean because of all the different types of surfaces and typical staining that can occur in tubs and sinks. Deep cleaning the bathroom consists of cleaning all of the following things:

  • All Surfaces
  • Wet Wash Walls
  • Bathtub
  • Shower
  • Sink
  • Mirror
  • Toilet
  • Windows
  • Window Sills
  • Baseboards/Trim
  • Floor
  • Exhaust Fan

KITCHEN

The kitchen can be time-consuming to deep clean because of appliances, cabinets, and built-up grease for example. Even if you keep-up regularly on kitchen cleaning, it’s likely your kitchen still needs a deep clean every four to six months. Deep cleaning the kitchen consists of all the following things:

  • All Surfaces
  • Wet Wash Walls
  • Sink (How to Properly Clean your Type of Sink)
  • Outside/Inside Cabinets
  • Countertops
  • Outside/Inside of Refrigerator
  • Outside/Inside of Microwave
  • Outside/Inside of Dishwasher
  • Range
  • Windows
  • Window Sills
  • Baseboards/Trim
  • Floor

LIVING ROOM

The living room is usually a very high traffic area, and the carpets and/or flooring show wear and tear in these areas. Fortunately, we have expert floor technicians that restore the dull, traffic stained floors. Deep cleaning the living room consists of cleaning all of the following things:

  • All Surfaces
  • Wet Wash Walls
  • Windows
  • Window Sills
  • Mirrors
  • Light Fixtures
  • Baseboards/Trim
  • Carpet/Flooring
  • Rugs

HALL, STAIRS, ETC.

Hallways and stairs are sometimes the last things to be cleaned. These areas are designed for travel, not sitting and hanging out. Being high-traffic areas, focus much attention on the floors when cleaning. Deep cleaning the hallways and stairs consists of cleaning all of the following things:

  • All Surfaces
  • Wet Wash Walls
  • Windows
  • Window Sills
  • Mirrors
  • Light Fixtures/Ceiling Fan
  • Baseboards/Trim
  • Carpet/Flooring
  • Rugs

BEDROOM

Let’s face it. The bedroom is the one room a lot of people ignore when it comes to deep cleaning. No guests typically go in this room, so why keep it clean? Unfortunately, we spend a ton of time in our bedrooms vs. how often we clean it. Deep cleaning a bedroom consists of cleaning all of the following things:

  • All Surfaces
  • Wet Wash Walls
  • Windows
  • Window Sills
  • Mirrors
  • Light Fixtures/Ceiling Fan
  • Baseboards/Trim
  • Carpet/Flooring
  • Rugs
  • Furniture
