Are you ready for party season?

As we move ever closer to what is essentially a party season, what are tips that can help make your home look great while only having party planning emergencies to do on the big day?

As soon as you decided to host a party, it is time to declutter your party areas. This will keep down how many last minute chores are needed on party day. Do not simply move clutter to another room to be forgotten there. Take the time to throw out trash, donate good items you don't plan to use, and find the correct home for everything that you want to keep but does not belong where you found it. This includes moving hats, coats, jackets, etc. from your front closet. Put your winter clothes in your closet and leave the foyer closet as a guest area to store their coats when they visit you.

In the 2 weeks before your party, finish any projects and home repairs that your guests will see and can appreciate. Those projects they will never see or know anything about can wait until clean up afterwards. This includes deep cleaning maintenance items like washing walls, dusting lights and fan blades, cleaning window dressings, etc. This is also the time to have ServiceMaster of Gwinnett come out to clean furniture and flooring. It is far enough out to make sure everything gets cleaned, but close enough to the party date to avoid having regular use make your floors and furniture look dingy again.

2 to 3 days before the party is the time to get your weekly cleaning done. This includes faster and easier chores like dusting, wiping down counters, setting party furniture like extra tables and chairs. At this point you do a quick extra sweep or mop of the flooring to get that little bit of dirt, if any, after the cleaning done 2 weeks ago.

In the day before the party, hit the high traffic and obvious areas like cleaning the bathrooms, putting out fresh hand towels, cleaning dishes, fluff and straighten upholstery cushions, etc. This is the last minute surface cleaning to make everything look polished.

All that preparation leaves the day of the party open to actual party preparations like hanging decorations, preparing food, setting dishes out for guests, etc. in the morning. The afternoon is open for final touches leaving you ready to be the host or hostess with the most (or mostess).

After the party is over, you can enjoy the praise from your guests while ServiceMaster of Gwinnett cleans the furniture and flooring of any spills or stains incurred during the party.
