Wedding season is here. While many people do enjoy weddings at other times of the year, the most popular time is in the fall, especially in October. Brides-to-be love the milder weather and fall colors as background. So if you are getting married in the fall, you should be well into plans by now. An often overlooked element of weddings is your home. While the wedding venue is somewhere else, planning, parties, showers and family visits related to the wedding will occur where you live.
1. Rent the extras that you need to be a good host so you aren't buying all new items you won't need later. This can range from larger items such as a tent to shelter the overflow of people house down to cutlery and dishes.
2. Plan simple meals and snacks for when there are gatherings at your home. People don't want to eat heavy meals at exciting events like parties and showers. Easy meals can be prepped ahead and light fare keeping you out of the kitchen and with your guests.
3. Be sure you plan for your pets. Whether you include them or find a safe place for them to stay while everyone is coming and going, you need to have a plan for where they will be and how they will be cared for while you are unavailable to them.
4. Clean your house. Be sure to get a deep cleaning of the floors and furniture as events begin to build so your house will be free of any bigger issues such as stains and ground in dirt. In the days before the big event, be sure to pick up loose items, dust and do a touch up cleaning of the floors and furniture again to be sure you are free of odors as well as the dust and dirt that tracked in and settled during the pre-wedding activities.
